Sketchnotes, also called "visual note taking" or "creative note taking," are a way of annotating your notes with images, doodles, charts, and drawings. Research has shown that sketch notes help you remember the information better, since you are putting someone else's words into images. It helps you process the information and retain it. Students in mobile media practiced sketch notes this week. Check out some examples below.

Mr. Wilks was nominated by Mr. Young
Mr. Wilks is well-deserving of the SASH Award on many levels. He is an excellent educator, and a veteran teacher. Helpfulness, support, and encouragement are exhibited regularly by Mr. Wilks especially to those of us with less education experience. Whenever I have needed help in my ELA Tier group, he has always given a hand by offering his resources and wisdom. He passionately strives to go above and beyond the call of an educator by routinely looking for ways to engage his students in enjoying their learning experience. Laughter can be heard several times throughout the day. He also manages the classroom with ease, because of the relationships that he builds and sustains with his students. Classroom expectations are followed respectfully in his classroom because of his consistency, and because the way that he communicates his respect towards the students and their learning environment. The students simply know and expect to learn vigorously in his classroom and also play deservingly if they complete what is required of them. He brings the best out of the kids as students and future citizens while balancing the reality of their kiddish nature. His knowledge and expertise is evident in his teaching, and it is something that is greatly appreciated by both the student body and the teaching staff that he collaborates with. I am honored to work with Mr, Wilks and continue to learn from him how to be a better educator. Thank you for all that you do for us at Turner Sixth Grade Academy. |
