Dear Bulldogs,
The Class of 2020 has successfully risen to the challenges presented in transitioning to a new building. TSGA staff was eager to welcome a new class and build on what we started in opening TSGA last year. The TSGA team understood the superhero powers it requires to execute a new initiative and the value of student voice, and exercising all of our strengths to promote the on-going success of our mission and beliefs: striving for success and growing together through attitude, academics, creativity, and technology. This year you experienced challenges that many students across the state have not yet undergone. You understand the value of a 1:1 learning environment and that ultimately, technology does not replace thinking and great teaching, yet is a tool to foster great teaching and learning opportunities. You had to responsible engage with digital media, information, and use it creatively and informatively. You learned a new online management system, Canvas, which is essential in order to stay organized and self-sufficient. You demonstrated a positive attitude and on-going effort despite the learning curves which will continue to serve you well throughout your learning adventures. Curriculum is more rigorous than ever before, learning new ways to think deeply about content and topics with new classmates and teachers, and you made the most of these experiences, both socially and academically. We were excited to launch our first college and career fair and appreciate teacher and parent partnerships that helped make that event memorable. The big idea behind this was to focus your interests and talents and open your minds and hearts to college and career pathways that support them. You have so much to look forward to and I hope we planted seeds to help you along the way. As principal at TSGA what brings me the most pride are the relationships we build with each of you over the course of a year. People matter most; never lose sight of how you play a role in the success of another’s life. It is my belief, without meaningful work, you cannot have a meaningful life. Whatever your “work” is, make it count. This leads me to one of my favorite poems, “The Dash.” I have shared it with each of you and I encourage you to pull it out from time to time and see how its meaning evolves as you grow and change. We are sad to see the Class of 2020 go, but are anxious to hear how you will make your “dash” count throughout your years in Turner and beyond. As always, it’s Great to be a Bulldog! Three Claps, Mrs. Hoit These students earned A's ALL year! Click HERE to see what it took for them to be able to achieve this goal! Thank you Mr. Hershey & ground crew for getting our fields ready for the annual TSGA kickball tourney!
