Mrs. Laster nominated Ms. Weilert for the SASH award. Here's what she had to say about Ms. Weilert. "I have been very lucky to have Melanie as my mentor this year. Her professionalism and knowledge has been invaluable. I admire how she take the time to get to know the students in the school by inviting different groups to lunch and talking to them about their day and their problems. She makes every student feel respected and important. Melanie works hard to help the staff in any way possible to better serve all the students at TSGA. She provides support and ideas to help accommodate every learner. Melanie is very adaptable to changing circumstances and always wants to do what is best for the students. I have learned so much from her this year and want to thank her for all that she does for the school and for me every day!"

In mobile media this week, students started a new unit on identifying online scams and protecting their accounts from identity theft. Students had to create a comic about an example of identify theft. Below are some great examples!
What I like so far about sixth grade , is that we get to use our iPads a lot. we use them in activities like Taking notes, doing our homework, and tests. I like the iPads because they are easier than using a lot of paper and keeping track of it. I also like the iPads because they are a resource that we could access easily. My favorite thing about 6th grade is making new friends. After school, I like to read and play on electronics. My goal for the year is to try to get a 4.0 gpa. I have 3 younger siblings. I am really good at writing. My mom and dad are my hero because I look up to them and I love them.
What l like about six grade is there are so many options on,picking so many books. I do not have after school activities but when I get home I do my chores and fix my room. My goals for this year is getting better grades and trying new things. I am really good at cooking, and I also am good at drawing people in cartoon version. What everyone should know about. Me is that I speak 3 languages one English of course and a little Korean and English. My hero is my mother. Because she works hard everyday to make sure my life is educational and successful. Also she lived a very hard life and still worked hard to do the right. In 6th grade so far, I like the teachers and my friends. I'm not in any clubs, but I like to go to my friends house. My goal for the year is to get good grades.
I like how in sixth grade that the schedules are organized and how nice everyone is here. Right now I am in two clubs, Girls on the Run and math club, but I am also thinking about joining art club. My goals for this year are to get straight As for the whole year. And to make this one of the best years of my life. My family says that I am really good at cooking and I am very good at negotiations. In the 6th grade so far, I like having more than one teacher, and my pre algebra class. After school I do my homework and then I like to play with my bunny and read books. My goals this year are to turn in all of my assignments and get good grades.
Mrs. Laster is always flexible and willing to change things if they aren’t working. She is always available when students need to talk to her or a place to calm down. She keeps a calm head and a positive attitude even with some of our most taxing students. She has an epic amount of patience and doesn’t lose her temper, even when most others would. She is always willing to step in and help staff when they need it. Mrs. Laster comes up with engaging activities for her kids that meet them where they are but still give them opportunities to grow. I often stop in during her ELA class and love being in there with the students. They are always doing fun things and learning a lot. She is a wonderful part of the TSGA staff!
This week in Mrs. Nix's class we launched the Bet You Can't Code Like Me challenge. Students have until May 6 to complete 3 courses on code.org. They will be mostly working on their own time. Students can earn badges and rewards for different things throughout the challenge, and students who complete all 3 courses will be invited to the coding genius hour celebration. This week's SASH award winner is Mrs. Nix! Cassie Nix is a very inspirational and motivating teacher. Her love for technology and innovative way of teaching is contagious to all around her. She has taken Mobile Media class to the next "level" and continues to improve student and teacher knowledge of the technology in their world. Thank you Cassie for all you do for the staff and students of TSGA.
