This week in mobile media, students have been discussing digital media consumption. Students logged their time online for four days. We collected all of the data and averaged it to determine how much time the average TSGA student spends online. Students also created a simile about what their digital life is like. Here are some great examples from students. "My digital life is like a plant because it keeps growing and growing." "My digital life is like a cat because sometimes it's annoying but I love it in the end." "My digital life is like oxygen because I can't breathe without it." "My digital life is like a box because it's boring and not fun." "My digital life is like my mom---sometimes fun and sometimes not fun." "My digital life is like ice---it's cool." "My digital life is like my sister; I don't like it but I don't hate it." "My digital life is like a puppy, because I'm always being watched." "My digital life is like Mars because there's no life on it." "My digital life is like a guinea pig because sometimes it seems that it loves you and then the next point SNAP it's against you." Last Friday, the seminar focused on accountability for your words and actions. We discussed how what we say to others can hurt their hearts and how to help others heal their hearts. We also discussed how to avoid saying hurtful things. On Fridays in mobile media, students get to choose a "tech station" to participate in. The options are Lego robotics, Makey-makey, coding, and blogging. Science club is sponsored by Mrs. Weber. They are working on writing essays and creating video for the Battle of the Brains contest. Mr. Wilks's social studies class has been carrying out a fun activity this week. Linzey Blair said, "We are doing a social studies project. This is the second day. Yesterday we were trying to see if we could survive by ourselves by getting water, food, and shelter. Today we were working as teams and tribes trying to complete the same task as we did on our own." Photos were taken by Linzey Blair. Last Friday was the first time for seminar clubs to meet. The clubs range from sports to karaoke to origami to coding. The kids had a great time, and the teachers did too! This week in mobile media, students have been learning about digital footprints. A digital footprint is all the ways you leave your mark online: social media, photos, information, accounts, and more. Students thought about their own digital footprint and created one using PicCollage. The TSGA book fair is happening for two more days in the cafeteria/gym. Make sure to stop by and check out the awesome selection! |
